A Unique Partnership in China
The Johns Hopkins University -- Nanjing University
Center for Chinese and American Studies
Established in 1986, the Hopkins-Nanjing Center (HNC) is a multicultural collaboration between Johns Hopkins University and Nanjing University. We are a tight-knit intellectual community dedicated to free and open academic exploration. Our students and scholars seek to understand China and its global engagements and build careers in the areas where China encounters the world. The HNC has a strong bilingual tradition and students have the option of completing their studies in English, Chinese, or a combination of both depending on their chosen pathway. At the heart of the Hopkins-Nanjing Center is its research library, considered one of China’s top collections on international affairs.

Johns Hopkins SAIS gives its students a truly international perspective on today's global issues. A worldwide reach--with locations in Washington, DC, Bologna, Italy, and Nanjing, China--allows HNC students the opportunity to choose between two study options in Nanjing or to combine their studies in China with programs in other regions of the world. The Hopkins-Nanjing Center offers the following programs:
