Adam Dunnett, Secretary-General of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China |
On April 26, 2023, representatives from the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China visited the Hopkins-Nanjing Center to introduce the Chamber and available job opportunities. Mr. Adam Dunnett, the Secretary-General—in charge of seeing the Chamber’s seven chapters across nine Chinese cities—led the presentation.
Mr. Dunnett spoke about the Chamber’s history and crystallized its mission as “ABC”: Advocacy, Business Intelligence, and Community Building. He also introduced the important advocacy work the Chamber does on behalf of European companies in China, what he enjoys about working at the Chamber, and the number of HNC students who have interned and worked at the Chamber over the years.
Speaking to over twenty HNC students, Dunnett was joined by Nanjing Chapter General Manager Ms. You Haiyan and Government Affairs Manager Ms. Chen Si. Ms. You explained how advocacy plays out locally by introducing the Nanjing Chapter’s Position Paper, on April 27, the day after the visit, and how the local chapter’s interests and work differ from the main office in Beijing, where Dunnett is based.

In the last 10 years, numerous Hopkins-Nanjing Center students have interned and worked at the European Chamber at chapters in Nanjing, Guangzhou/Shenzhen, and in the main Beijing office. Given their diverse backgrounds, interests, and wide understanding of global affairs, HNC students continue to be attracted to the Chamber for internships and jobs.
